Options appraisal for Gambling Commission
The customer
Gambling Commission, established by the UK government, is responsible for regulating and supervising all forms of gambling. With a commitment to promoting fairness, combating crime and disorder, and safeguarding vulnerable individuals, the Gambling Commission upholds stringent industry standards.
The challenges
Gambling Commission encountered several problems with its collection of systems for its core functions. Its previous provider rushed the implementation of its HR system (Sage People) that caused poor integration with payroll and finance systems (MHR, iTrent, and Siebel software). This resulted in a lack of functionality and lead to inefficiencies, subpar decision-making, and a fragmented user experience.
The solution
We worked with Gambling commission to form a high-level options appraisal, using proven methodologies and techniques, to identify the most suitable future ERP system.
This comprised of a thorough analysis of appropriate software options based on its requirements, objectives and budget. The project consisted of the following activities:
Discovery: We performed a business analysis to gain insight on Gambling Commission’s fundamental reporting structure and processes, while keeping the organisation’s relevant rules, regulations, core system functionality and pain points in mind.
High level market assessment: We did an independent assessment of "off the shelf" solutions that would meet Gambling Commission's requirements, including upgrading and enhancing the existing solution.
Indicative costings and timescales: For each of the assessment options, we provided an overview of the costs of implementation and ongoing ownership, to be used at within the business case appraisal.
The result
The report consisted of an overview of the desired outcomes, outlined the key benefits of making changes to systems and processes, included a high-level view of the timings and costs to inform the business case, and demonstrated the pros and cons of the options identified.
Overall, the information collated from the options appraisal ensured that the team at Gambling Commission could make an informed decisions about its future system.
